EREPS Code of Ethical Practice
The EREPS Code of Ethical Practice is probably the most important document for members – it defines the rights and responsibilities of being an exercise professional and member of the Register. The Code exists because it helps to improve the credibility and accountability of our members. By another description it is the 'rule book' of how we conduct ourselves as professionals.
There are many important aspects to the Code but one area in particular concerns the requirement that members:
Have an absolute duty of care to be aware of their working environment and to be able to deal with all reasonably foreseeable accidents and emergencies – and to protect themselves, their colleagues and clients.
Registration with EREPS does not require you, as an individual, to have first aid training or even cardio-pulmonary resuscitation training. But, under this principle of our Code it must be your action as an exercise profession to review where you are working and to be satisfied that you do have the training to deal with accidents and emergencies. This may mean that you decide that you do need to have first aid training and other plans in place to meet these requirements.
