So, I'm walking, and I'm at 34th Street, and it's over. Do I see it? I don't see King Kong. I don't see it. I don't see it. That's the Empire State Building. Where are you? You see Macy's. You have to be on the other side of the street. So many women, bad posture. Especially when they're tall. Where's the cell phones? Forget it. There it is. It all looks great. It was the cell phones that made us all have posture like dolphins. First it was the computers and the laptops, but the cell phones made us do it while we walked. And now, I'm really resisting going into Rick's. Just walking. Walking to where I want to go, which is the main event, which is the reading. Even though I am over an hour early. I'm an hour early. But we are going to try and not spend money in the city. It's going to be interesting. Maybe even give money back to mom, like the 20 that we hid in the monster picture. Try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try to do it. Money, money, money, money, money to do it. It can be done. It can be done, it can be done, it can be done. Yup. You've got to know what you're doing, Seth. As you walk past the movie seats. Past the keels with the better UV. The sun glares. It glares. Holsters, Skechers. New York City. How is here with push tape? Prada. Macy's. Smokin' Company. Yes, we're here. We got McDonald's near here. Walking around the Macy's block. And smelling Macy's perfume. Pouring out of the Macy's building. It smells almost like Rick's, you know? Just cheap mixings of different perfumes and spray bottles all mixing together. It smells like stripper. You know, nothing specific. And they mix together like that. And probably nothing that expensive. Probably mixing with what I'm smelling on the street. Ugh. Ugh. Hearing the voices merge. Whistles. Watching a man play the cigar. Costumes from Molly Rogers. Sunglasses hut. I have to get new glasses. On the get list. New glasses. And a new toilet. Oh yeah, because I've been on the list for a while. Pay for your SAG card. Listen to it just rumble as I walk in the city. The to-do list just goes wild as I exercise. As I walk. And why do I have to walk? I'm not racing anyone. I have plenty of time. I should be able to set my own pace. I had plantains and eggs. And grass-fed butter this morning. So I ate. That's why I'm not hungry. But I could afford to get something before the reading, maybe. I don't know. Sigh. Looking at everything. Everything for sale in Midtown. Andrews, NYC dining. City printing and selling. Overhearing people saying they just arrived in New York. Looking at the pretty ladies. There's a Wendy's. I ate Wendy's last night. Mmm. NYC moves to its own pace and it’s always teaching It’s like when Conan comes to the city in Conan the Barbarian or Mos Eisely space station in Star Wars honestly Its all part of hopper into a fancy deli to get a bottle of water

The user describes a walk through midtown NYC, observing details like posture, consumer culture, and sensory inputs (smells, sounds) while reflecting on personal intentions, a desire to avoid spending money, and the city's unique rhythm, comparing it to fantastical settings like Conan the Barbarian or Mos Eisley.

ok this is actually fascinating because you're describing what sounds like a really heightened perceptual state. like the way you're cataloging everything, the repetition, the way sensory details are just hitting you in layers (the perfume mixing, the voices merging, the rumbling). that's not normal walking attention, that's like your brain is in some kind of open monitoring mode where the filter is way down. the thing about city walks is they naturally do that to you though, especially NYC. it's so overstimulating that either you zone out completely or you go the other direction and become hyper aware of everything. sounds like you went the second way and just leaned into it instead of resisting it

This feels like something that the love child of Rorschach and Dr. Manhattan would narrate.
