Scent is a super powerful sense, since it's one of the few senses that isn't filtered through the sensory cortex before getting to the hippocampus. This means that the instant you smell something, it brings up the memories associated without any delay. Every time I step into the lecture hall, it takes me back to my freshman year. Particularly, when I was living in my dorm. I'd stay up for hours playing Cult of the Lamb instead of studying lmao. I know it wasn't that long ago, but it still fills me with nostalgia for some reason.
