The thought of being a parent so young is very scary but I want to share one advantage that I see as a positive benefit. And that is the fact that I am able to easily recall some of my own childhood memories, giving me the opportunity to remember my innocence and constant mistakes that were made at the same age. Being able to resonate with how she may be feeling or thinking and giving grace to my daughter that I wasn’t given by my own mother. When I find myself in a familiar situation with my daughter and she needs redirection, I take a deep breath and think before I speak. I make sure that whatever I say and how I handle it makes her more aware rather than scared. Making mistakes is apart of life and It’s all about how you choose to handle it, and that’s the natural part of learning.
