How much does the music affect your trip. I never thought of how much the music can affect your trip up until this point. So basically it was me and one friend and we decided to take mushrooms as we've done a few times before but this time for some reason I decided to take a huge amount and was all going good in the beginning but after about half an hour I was already tripping as hard as I would on a normal dose and mine hadn't even kicked in fully yet. That's when I decided to put on headphones and listen to some music. Now at that time my music taste was a little bit more on the sadder side. Now, I don't remember much from the trip anymore, but basically my friend told me I was rolling around on his ground, destroying stuff in his room, licking the floor and just being crazy. I have a total blackout from it and I don't remember anything anymore. The only thing I still remember is when I woke up at around, I'll say 3am in the morning because I must have fallen asleep while I was on tripping, I didn't know. So when I woke up, I didn't know what the fuck was going on. So I looked out his bedroom window and everything still looked kinda trippy, you know. I tried to go to the bathroom, but for some reason I couldn't get the door to open and I thought it was locked or I don't know, something. So I went to lay down in bed again and that's when I could hear ambulance sirens going on in my head and I thought, hmm, that's weird. I didn't think much of it, but then my whole body started to hurt and breathing became difficult for some reason and I could feel the life leaving both my legs. I couldn't move them anymore, I couldn't feel them, I could just feel all the energy, everything just leaving them and I thought, oh shit, I took way too many mushrooms, I'm probably in an ambulance, I'm way to the hospital, about to die. And I started like, kind of talking to God and being like, if you're really there, just please, please help me, I don't want to die, things like that. Then I could feel the life leaving both my arms, so now I could only feel my chest and my heart beating. My breathing became harder and harder until I couldn't really breathe anymore and I felt everything just leaving my body, everything just like going away, I can't really describe the feeling. During that feeling, I also felt someone kind of stroking me on my shoulder, so also, I thought, that was a sign of, I don't know, my mom being next to me in the ambulance while I'm on my way to the hospital. And the last thing I remember was, right after everything happened, all the feeling leaving my body and such and such, I closed my eyes obviously and you know, I've always read that when you die, that your body releases DMT, so while I was thinking I died and I had my eyes closed, I was seeing, you know, very colourful things, so I thought, oh shit, this is my body releasing DMT or whatever, because I'm about to die, well, I didn't die obviously, I woke up the next morning and was fine, at least physically, mentally it wasn't the easiest thing, the easiest trip, I would say. So now I have some questions. What was the reason for such a crazy trip? Was it the amount of mushrooms I took? Was it the music? Was it maybe my mental state? Or was it just a mix of everything altogether? I don't know. I still don't really know why it happened or even what happened. I'm not sure if it was an ego death or not.

Describes a 6g mushroom trip at a friend's house where, after listening to sad music, the user experienced a blackout and a terrifying, vivid hallucination of dying in an ambulance, complete with physical sensations of losing body function. The user is currently seeking community insight on whether the outcome was caused by the dosage, music choice, or their mental state.

I think it was probably a mix of all of those things, but I think the biggest contributor is your mental state. I’ve had trips where it starts ok and then I have a negative thought and I’ll just start to spiral. I’ve also had trips where everything is perfect and wonderful and I’m thankful to be alive. In a weird way, I appreciate both trips. I don’t have the bad trips that often, but when I do, I think they’re helping me get some stuff out that I’ve been holding on to even if I don’t know what it is. Keep this experience in mind next time you trip but definitely don’t focus on how you felt like you were dying so you can hopefully not have the same experience.
