psychedelics
My friend and I each took one tab (allegedly 100 micrograms) at his house. Right after dosing we started a game of Mario Party. By the time the game was almost over I was starting to come up — I felt it a little in my jaw, everything just seemed cooler, colors looked brighter, and my girlfriend looked prettier. Between turns she plucked my eyebrows, which hurt but turned out looking good.
After the game ended I walked her to her car. It was my first time standing up in a while and my body felt very strange — I felt really tall and my legs felt noodly but still rigid. Textures were starting to breathe gently. The sunset was beautiful, and when I looked into the blank sky I could see the first faint traces of geometry forming. My girlfriend noticed how big my pupils were. We kissed goodbye and I went back inside.
My friend and I picked up the guitars. Playing felt incredible — it was much easier to imagine scale degrees, see them on the fretboard, and know exactly where I wanted to go next while improvising. I also started noticing shifting patterns on my hands and skin in my peripheral vision.
We eventually set up to watch a movie. I wanted to see the newest Avatar thinking the visuals would be amazing, but after a long setup we realized I had mixed up Avatar 3 and 4. We ended up just skipping around through the prettiest scenes. Then my friend tried to find a specific TV show and we accidentally started a completely unrelated random movie with the same title. It made literally no sense (or maybe it did and I just couldn’t tell). We turned it off, talked for a bit, and then impulsively decided to go for a walk.
The walk was one of the highlights. It started with that familiar happy, giggly feeling — everything was funny and extra cool. The visuals slowly built and my body felt tingly. At one point the road in front of me began to curl downwards and transformed into a giant rolling seashell made of thousands of smaller, jewel-like seashells. The section of road that hadn’t rolled up yet pulsed with multicolored lights racing down its length, while the path ahead curved up into the sky like an infinite Rainbow Road from Mario Kart. Walking felt completely effortless and I had unlimited energy.
We shared stories, talked about life, and got into deep philosophical territory. When we got back to the apartment we kept chatting and I was thinking so abstractly. Every idea felt like a node in a vast web I could visualize, and there was an almost physical connection between my consciousness and whoever I was talking to.
Then the peak hit. Sometimes I would get symmetrical pattern repetition and objects would mirror across an axis, making it feel like my body was mirroring too. When I wasn’t looking directly at myself, it sometimes felt like I was turning to liquid, fusing with whatever I was sitting on. My body parts felt like they were overlapping or passing through each other. At one point it felt like my entire body was being folded repeatedly, geometrically and symmetrically like origami, until I became an infinitely fine line. With my eyes closed, the trip peeled away in layers, each one more vivid than the last. Eventually a beam of light hit me right in the forehead and split my body open from head to crotch. As I opened up, my entire self dissolved into energy and expanded to occupy an infinite space.
During this time it also felt like there was an extra person present in the room. Sometimes they would feel like they were sitting next to me, touching me, walking around behind me, or sometimes overlapping with me. I was so full of energy the entire night.
Later we put on Pink Floyd’s The Wall. It was trippy and weird — we couldn’t tell what was actually part of the movie and what we were hallucinating. We kept going “woah what the fuck was that, was that in the movie?” “dude I don’t fucking know.” All night we had so many laughing fits that felt impossible to stop. We were riffing off each other’s ideas effortlessly and hilariously, locked in a perfect flow state.
After the movie ended it was almost 4am, so we turned the lights off and tried to go to sleep.
